MMRI’s 2026 1958 Gala Raises Over $220,000 for Medical Research
UTICA, N.Y. – MMRI welcomed 400 guests to its third annual 1958 Gala, presented by Adirondack Bank, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The evening honored community leader Harold “Tom” Clark for his philanthropic efforts and longstanding commitment to the Mohawk Valley, while fundraising for MMRI’s groundbreaking research in heart disease, autism, lupus, PTSD, and more. The event brought together community leaders, supporters, and scientists for an evening of connection and discovery, grossing more than $220,000 in support of the Institute’s mission.
An Evening Supporting Scientific Discovery
Guests enjoyed a lively atmosphere featuring a live band, signature cocktails highlighted by a custom sunfish sailboat as an ode to Clark, chef-attended food stations, and raffle and auction items. Attendees also explored an art gallery showcasing scientific images captured by MMRI researchers, offering a glimpse into the Institute’s work.
“It is truly remarkable to see the 1958 Gala grow year after year,” said Maria I. Kontaridis, Ph.D., executive director and Gordon K. Moe professor and chair of biomedical research and translational medicine at MMRI. “This year marked our most successful event to date, highlighting the strength and commitment of our community. Their support is essential as we continue to drive discoveries that transform how we understand and treat disease.”
