Masonic Medical Research Institute (MMRI) will host its second annual Together for Autism Research Gala on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Marina Del Rey in the Bronx, New York. The event will bring together community leaders, advocates, philanthropists, and supporters to raise critical funds for autism research.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. and will feature dinner, cocktails, entertainment, and opportunities to support groundbreaking biomedical research focused on autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Supporting Autism Research at MMRI

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), autism affects 1 in 31 children in the United States. The growing prevalence of ASD highlights the need for continued scientific research to better understand the condition and improve outcomes for individuals and families.

At MMRI, researchers are studying the genetic, environmental, and biological factors that contribute to autism and related developmental disorders. Scientists in the Kontaridis Lab are focused on advancing discoveries that may improve the understanding, diagnosis, and future treatment of ASD.

“The Kontaridis Lab is dedicated to advancing our understanding of what causes autism,” said Maria I. Kontaridis, Ph.D., Executive Director and Gordon K. Moe Professor and Chair of Biomedical Research and Translational Medicine at MMRI. “Support from this gala is critical to helping us advance discoveries and answer questions on the causal associations, which individuals and families affected by autism urgently need.”

Building Support for Families and Future Discoveries

The Together for Autism Research Gala continues to grow as a signature fundraising event supporting MMRI’s autism research initiatives.

“We are proud to continue growing this event and building support for autism research,” said Harry Pateroulakis, chair of the MMRI Downstate Advisory Committee. “The generosity of our supporters allows MMRI scientists to continue pursuing innovative research that has the potential to transform lives and create hope for future generations.”
